The principle of thermocouples:

When there are two different conductors or semiconductors A and B form a loop, the two ends are connected to each other, as long as the temperature at the two junctions is different, one end temperature is T, called the working end or hot end, the other end temperature is T0, called the free end (also known as the reference end) or cold junction, an electromotive force will be generated in the loop, the direction and magnitude of the electromotive force is related to the material of the conductor and the temperature of the two contacts.This phenomenon is called the "thermoelectric effect", the loop consisting of two conductors is called a "thermocouple", these two conductors are called "thermal electrodes", and the electromotive force generated is called "thermoelectromotive force".
